Kevin Langeree

It’s never lonely at the top of the PKRA table for Kevin Langeree, who has the discomfort of a four time world champ waiting to pounce on his heels at every event.

If Langeree slips, he knows Aaron Hadlow is there waiting with the experience and the calibre of freestyle tricks to see him through.

But being the first freestyle kiter in four years to reach number one was: ``Like a dream come true,’’ Langeree said.

``It is not an easy job staying up there; you have to train hard.

``There are a lot of other guys that want to be up there really bad.

``Aaron is the hardest guy to beat.

``Its pretty cool to keep up with him and its good for the sport when it is so close in competition.

``In the heats that we ride against each other we both give 100per cent to win.

``I think the one that has a good day wins.’’

Now with the season over, Langeree plans to work on power and one handed techniques so that he can climb the tables again in 2009.

``Every time I go out for a training session Im thinking about something new,’’ he said.

``The cool the about the sport is that nothing is impossible. This winter Ill train as much as I can on power and the one handed stuff.’’

Langeree would like to ride waves at Margaret River and catch a Xavier Rudd concert on his next visit to Australia.

``I love Xavier Rudd,’’ he said.

``That guy rocks.

``Ive been to a concert of him in Holland twice and that was good fun.’’
